Queen Mbanuzue, DPM is a board certified podiatric physician and surgeon who has been in private practice since founding In Step Podiatry Center with the late Dr. LaToya D. Smith in 2011.

Dr. Mbanuzue received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Vanderbilt University, and her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from Dr. Scholl College At Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, North Chicago, IL in 2008. Her postgraduate training included a three-year surgical podiatric residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia-a reputable Level I Trauma Center—where she received intensive training in forefoot and rearfoot surgery. Dr. Mbanuzue also served as chief resident and worked with esteemed practitioners at Georgetown Hospital Center in Washington, DC for wound healing. 

Dr. Mbanuzue is board certified in Foot and Ankle Surgery with the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. She is affiliated several hospitals in Prince George’s County, MD, including Doctors Community Hospital-where she serves as Chief of Podiatry and Wound Care Consultant at the Center for Wound Healing-Laurel Regional Hospital, and Prince George's Hospital Center.

Patient education is very important to Dr. Mbanuzue, and she encourages her patients to take an active role in their treatment.

She also takes every opportunity to build awareness in the field of podiatric medicine, being featured in industry publications, and holding various professional memberships.

Giving back to the community has always been a passion of Dr. Mbanuzue’s. While pursuing her education she was Coordinator for the Dance for Diabetes Fundraiser. She currently serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for Kusudi International, a global nonprofit organization providing rehabilitative and medical assistance domestically and abroad.

When she is not practicing medicine, Dr. Mbanuzue enjoys watching sports and playing flag football and volleyball recreationally. She also loves great food, traveling, and spending time with her family.
